I used curve profile -- the iris is just 3 concentric circles each with a "spiky" profile.. did the original in AS 8.2 back in May-ish 2012 for "naked white silence".

Could I use this file in my animations? Thanks!

Coincidentally enough (IIRC) I used this eye for a dragon (for my wife's novel). Here's the final image (mostly done in AS but with some Photoshop shading and background):

Dragons of the Wold (not "World" -- I warned her not to call it that but she said...).

Here's an Amazon link:

Those scales are drawn in Anime Studio -- I drew a section of them and duplicated it in Photoshop (but there's no reason you couldn't do the same in Moho). The scales themselves are pretty easy -- I found an image on the web and just duplicated the look, more or less (kind of a shell without the bottom).

Thank you. You did a great job with the scales and how they follow the curves.

I started moving around my scales this is what I am getting.

.

Its getting better but I want the area around the cheek spines to be more like this:

I also have to redo the ears; the sketches are somewhere.

Looks pretty good to me, and animation will cover a lot. Sometimes we end up worrying about precision when we look at a still and forget that, for the most part, our characters will be moving and telling stories which then keeps people from even seeing most of the tiny things we are so concerned about.

I have seen this time and again on shows I've done, where I see terrible flaws and afterwards I talk to people and they haven't seen any of them. There's another thing -- no matter WHAT you do now, a year or two down the road you will want to "fix" it. Trust me, you can't make it perfect enough for you not to revisit it later. So get it as good as you can now and move on.

So true. We are always our own worst critic.

couldn't agree more with that... or, put another way, if in a year or two you *don't* think you could improve it ask yourself if it truly was "perfection" or if you've maybe not developed enough as an artist / animator... (the very early stuff I did, pre my YT channel, was "tremendous" at the time and I dug some of it out thinking I might publish it but ... consigned it to the bit bucket labelled nostalgia...)
